5 Reasons to take Guitar Lessons

I have been teaching people how to play guitar for over 20 years. As a result, I have come across many reasons as to why people start. I would love to  share with you the top 5 reasons why taking guitar lessons is a good idea.

  1. A great distraction.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Lets face it, life can get busy and pretty demanding at times. Sometimes an escape is necessary and playing guitar can provide just that. For instance: You can sit and practice, or sing for hours, or play licks and solos by the greats. Imagine just sitting back, kicking your legs up, and just strumming away as all your tension fades away.

  2. Releases your creativity.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   When you tap into creativity it can effect our entire life. I have seen people suddenly venture into the “new exciting and profitable” overnight because their creativity got unlocked. When the creative part of your brain is triggered boldness comes to the surface, and suddenly any mountain can be conquered. I have watched Authors, Engineers, CEO’S, Small Business Owners, IT Specialist, Etc. embrace creativity and the results were amazing! Guitar lessons will trigger this part of your personality and will send you soaring into the new! JILL SUTTIE has a great article on How Music can help us be more creative.

  3. Social interaction.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Lets get together and jam! What a great phrase! Playing guitar, or jamming, as musicians would say, is one of the funnest way to spend the night. I constantly try to hook my students up with one another because its a great way to make new friends while improving on your instrument. Playing guitar in the confines of your home is great, but when others doing in the fun the result always is living life to the fullest.

  4. Something new.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         The saying goes, “if you always do the same things, you will always get the same results”. Many people have wondered into my doors just wanting to try somethings new, and as a result have found something they love and treasure. What if trying something new brought new passion, excitement, and joy into your life? Would you give it a shot? For example I decided to try the recording world and ended up falling in love.

  5. Desire to perform.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   The stage is always a draw. As human beings we love to be acknowledged for a good job done. For some performing is a high that others get from bungee jumping, or car racing, or video games, etc. Taking guitar lessons to hone your skills so that you can perform the songs you love, is a great reason. Many of my students have become very successful in the performing world. In other words, can you see yourself on stage?

That gives you 5 Reasons to take guitar lessons if you are considering it at the moment. I give guitar lessons in Holly Springs, NC. Contact me if you want more information.
