Do you need a guitar teacher?

I teach Guitar Lessons in Holly Springs NC and therefore I have a lot of acoustic and electric guitar students. I’ve always told my students that having a guitar teacher can save you a lot of pain and heart ache. In addition to the pain and heart ache, it’ll also save you a lot of precious time! We all value our time! Instructional videos and tabs are easy to find, and although that may be helpful, nothing can beat one-on-one with a skilled teacher. Nothing what-so-ever!

I am convinced,  if I do my job right, I should eventually work myself out of a job. Why is that? A good guitar instructor gives you a foundation to grow on.  Your instructor should bring you to a place of enlightenment!

I have worked with countless people who have been self taught, and the result are almost always the same. Mistakes are learned! And, bad techniques embedded! The good news is, that although it might take determination, bad habits can be dropped!

So, do I use online help? Yes, yes I do! But I will always  still prefer learning  with a real-life teacher!

A good guitar teacher can be:

  • An Encourager – There’s an old saying “no pain no gain”. While that may be true, enduring the pain with someone saying  “You can do it” makes it easier.
  • A Good Guide – Who doesn’t like short cuts? If there is an easier way to learn something hard, a good teacher can show you how. When it comes to music there are many ways to make learning easy. It’s like a captain with a reliable map guiding you to your destination.
  • A Treasure Finder – Seeing talent and helping someone set a course to their dreams is part of what a good teacher does.
  • A Goal Setter – Unless you aim at something you will hit nothing. A good teacher helps to set achievable goals.
  • A Mentor – Pulling someone up to a higher level and pushing them ahead of yourself is really important. It okay to be outgrown – someone else’s success could be your glory!

I teach guitar lessons in Holly Springs NC and would love to help you avoid some pit falls, and would love to see you reach your full potential.
